Q: If I arrive early, how about our accommodation, food, and registration?

A: For VIPs and officers, our liaison officer and logistics committee will register, escort and send you to your respective hotels(applicable only if choice of  hotel is from the list given by the committee). Food will not be provided or taken care by our food committee. Please refer to the guidebook given upon arrival to find the eatery available near to your location. Meanwhile, for participation, our committee will send you to your respective hostels but register must be done on 1^st May 2019 within the time allocated.

 

Q: When and where are the participants and officers registration?

A: The participants’ registration will be held on 1^st May 2019 at Dewan Utama Pelajar Foyer (Student’s Main Hall Foyer), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) from 9a.m to 5p.m. For the international VIPs or officers, their registration will be handled during their arrival in the airport by our liaison officers.

 

Q: How about participants’ accommodation, security and transportation during the convention?

A: The participants’, VIPs and officers’ accommodation during the convention will be hotels nearby Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). Meanwhile, the transportation of participants, VIPs and secretariats from the airports or from hotels (only applicable for the hotels in the list provided) to event venue will be handled by the logistics committee with the use of vans and buses. The security of VIPs, officers and participants will be handled by the accommodation and security committee in collaboration with liaison officers and logistics during arrival and event.

 

Q: How do we communicate with others since our phone settings is incompatible with Malaysia coverage settings?

A: Upon arrival, international VIPs or officers and participants will be escorted to their destined accommodations by our selected liaison officers. The same officers will also be in charge of escorting you until you get into the transportation provided by the logistics committee.

 

Q: If I have Malaysia-compatible phone, where can I buy and renew the credit of a SIM card?

A: Upon arrival, if you have Malaysia-compatible phone, you can ask your respective liaison officer to buy a SIM Card at the airport. For renewal or top-up, some service provider like Digi provide online SIM Card renewal or top-up. If not, there are Digi mobile stores either opposite Sungai Dua Gate or Ivory Bukit Gambir beside Restu, Saujana & Tekun (RST) Complex.

Q: Which are the best mobile service provider that I can buy and use once I reach Penang for the convention or in USM?

A: We recommend international participants, VIPs and officers to use prepaid cards since prepaid card is a short-term package and expired normally in a month of inactivity. In terms of availability, Digi, Maxis Hotlink or Celcom prepaid card is available to most of the mobile store compared to UMobile, and TuneTalk. Meanwhile, Digi and Celcom (with coverage up to 4G) has the best coverage around Universiti Sains Malaysia compared to others (although UMobile is strong throughout Penang and Maxis has coverage up to 4G). Besides that, we found out that Digi and Celcom have the cheapest prepaid package for 5-7 days. Our recommendation for the prepaid cards is listed below:

1st Choice: Celcom

2nd Choice: Digi

3rd choice: Maxis Hotlink

We recommend Xpax Magic Sim prepaid card because its pack has lowest price with a RM5 value (RM3 credit) has a validity of 5 days with free basic Hi-Speed Internet up to 200MB and lowest call rates of RM0.025/min to other Celcom users and RM0.10/min to others network.

Q: Is there any free Wi-Fi available to be used in USM or in our hostel?

A: When you are inside USM Campus, there will be free USM Secure Wi-Fi with the username and password given in the post-card during registration.

 Q: What are the praying times for Muslim in USM Penang?

Q: Where I can pray during the convention?

A: You can pray in the praying rooms located on Dewan Utama Pelajar (DUP) or Masjid Al Malik Khalid USM near the Sungai Dua gate or praying rooms near or outside the Indah Kembara Hostel during the convention. When in your own respective hotel, you can pray inside your own room according to the qibla.
